We're  baking in this heat and on the point t of buying a hot tub for our patio. Great for dipping g into to keep cool in the heat, and warm relaxation in the winter terms months.

However this morning a friend told me their hot Tub was too hot to use in the summer (38C!). It was in full sun.

What are other people's experiences?  If we keep it in the shade with the top off would it be useable in this 28-35C temps?

Any relevant advice will be appreciated!

Ours certainly cooled us down a treat. Ours is in full sun. After we use it in the evening we turn it down a few degrees ready for the day time. Make sure you have a thick quality cover.

Do you live here, or only come out on holiday? Because they are more trouble than they are worth if you are refilling/setting it up every time you come out. We got rid of ours for that reason.

Hi we have just bought one and i admit it has been a pain so far, would you recommend getting " a pool cleaner " to pop round putting chemicals in etc during the time we are not there, would that get round the problems you think ?

I have a lady from a pool company that goes in every week to check water levels ph etc. She empties cleans and services it once a year. Costs me €20 a month. Well worth it as also it's a check on your property weekly.

Hi I am in a different area and don't think she goes that far out. Talk to people in your area and hopefully you will find someone that will do the same. Good luck.

A couple of points about hot tubs:

Firstly, the temperature is controllable, so in summer lower it to cool you down (say 28°C) and in winter up it. However you should never exceed 38°C as the bodies temperature is 37.4, so can cause dizziness and blood pressure problems by raising beyond this.

Secondly, when we leave our tub to return to the UK I up the chlorine levels to ensure it stays clean untill we return. However, this is usually for around 4 to 6 weeks. If the period was considerably longer I'd either drain and refill or get someone in to treat.

Hope this helps?
