I've been trying to find the cities that are banning cars that are too old to get an exemption sticker (I believe there are 150 cities in total throughout Spain). I have a 2005 Diesel so will miss the 2006 cut-off point for Diesel vehicles. I know it applies to cities with populations of 50k plus and understand that Orihuela is on the list and wondered if that covers areas like La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Playa Flamenca etc. Has anyone seen anything definitive and know when it kicks in for Valencia/Murcia regions?

One good thing about Murcia region is that Cartagena didn’t) join the scheme. Too many people from outlying areas need a car to get to one of the five hospitals located there.

We are in same position. I think its only Madrid and Barcelona at the moment. It will be up to the towns officials to decide if they will join. I believe they would need to provide park and ride schemes. Another money maker for them.

York, in the UK, introduced a park & ride scheme, to begin with it was free then £5 for parking and £5 for ride was introduced, people complained but all the council said was you get a full days parking and a full days bus rife for £10. The residents who have to go into York centre usually go for a purpose not to kill time for a day. Other than P & R York does not have a pensioners pass scheme which many other areas have.

I noticed that one of the big park & ride sites at the Poppleton side of York has been closed down.
Sign of the times perhaps.

Which part of the Costa Cálida is Poppleton in? Well off topic, I suggest!

Why are people going on about York ? The question was about car eco stickers in Spain I can´`t understand why they go off at tangents. Please answer the question asked, not ramble on about something irrelevant..

A Oark & Rude type commuter service was being discussed for Spain, someone mentioned these systems were open to abuse and I gave York as a prime example. Satisfied?

So, can anyone actually answer the very good question about pre-2006 cars in Spain?
