We have just bought a place close to the beach in LA but everyone just parks in front our drive, often for many days - any advice welcome please on how I get a sign or the curb painted ?

You apply at the Ayuntamiento for a "vado" licence. If approved you will be able to fit the ubiquitous sign to your wall or gate, and you pay an annual licence fee. If you have to pay for the sign etc I don't know, as our house already had one.

Note that strictly speaking the vado only means that no one should block access to your property - including you. It is not a parking permit, just a ban on the access being blocked. It does mean that a phone call to the police will produce a copper, then a grua to tow the miscreant away.

In practice I have found that the sign works most of the time, but you will never stop the odd driver parking there while they nip to a local shop or bar for a short while, as they know that they will be gone before the police arrive.

In Los Narejos they have not repainted the yellow lines that the law says should be there since the pavement was rebuilt a couple of years back, which does not help!

I am on the understanding that Jim has this on his guides = Jim’s Guides, but what peterc has posted should answer your question.

PeterC is quite right.I live close to the beach and on weekends you will not see a space for love or money! The park outside prohibited areas .They totally ignore those signs and disabled spots are ignored too ,I see it happening,I have yet to see any disabled drivers getting them.

Anyhow back to your problem, did you think of getting cones or such like?, I've seen this done in places, this problem usually occurs at weekends so you could be prepared.Although I don't know if you are allowed.best of luck

In reality the police only act if a complaint is made by the vado licence holder. Anyone stupid enough to denounce themselves deserves to get their car removed!

It should be emphasised that only the area needed to access the property - e.g. the width of the gate(s) must be kept free by others. They can of course park anywhere that does not overlap. Co-operation between neighbours to park their cars about 1 cm in front and behind the invader is one ploy...

Not totally sure but think we pay around €60? The DD is due soon so I will try to update.
