Not really the obvious time of year but I like to plan ahead and do some research.

I have a single storey villa in Los Alcazares  which is approximately north facing and has tiled floors. It's great in the summer but last winter It was really chilly in the mornings and evenings. I have an open fire place with a gas coal effect fire. It costs a fortune to run and I have to replace two gas bottles at a time and neither seem to be completely empty. Someone said it would improve if I had it cleaned and serviced but I dont want to go to the expense if it still wont keep me warm.

I have looked at pellet stoves but they are out of my price range. The obvious choice seems to be a gas fire on wheels but they are not very cosy.

Any feedback would be much appreciated, Thanks.

Aircon every time - economical, almost silent, clean and good in both summer sweats and winter chills.

If it is not a modern inverter system it is outdated.

We heated a 210sq m house in the hills of Malaga province for far less than it cost us for logs for a turbo fire, and saved on not repainting the lounge every year due to dirt from opening the door to load the beast, and no emptying, cleaning glass etc or checking the wood pile for bugs.....

If the system is very old our system was  you could possibly need knew pipework and it will need gas which needs to conform to certain regulations not sure if you can do that yourself

Aircon is not a diy job, you need a certified engineer.
