Paracetamol will not help acid reflux I suffered with this for many years and it was eventually found I have a Hiatus Hernia,

I always took many different reflux medications then I was prescribed Omeprazol 20mg which worked perfectly, however as my problem increased I was given other medications much stronger.

Omeprazol can be purchase without a perscription from and farmacia

My husband also has acid reflux and has been prescribed Omeprazol 20mg by his doctor and these work fine for him. This medication can also be bought over the counter in any farmacia.

Hi,

Sorry to hear you have acid reflux, it is so painful as you are finding. As already mentioned, omeprazole 20mg daily which you can purchase over the counter is really good, it is a gastric resistant medication and creates a lining for your stomach. I was prescribed it a few years ago and took it for a month or so to settle my reflux. I now take it intermittently, generally when I know I am going to have rich food and a few glasses of wine, I take it a few days before and then stop a couple of days after. I also avoid foods that trigger reflux for me, like too many onions, fizzy drinks/wine, white wine. You could try peppermint tea or mints to soothe initially. Hope this helps.

Good Evening,

Five weeks of persistent pain is of some concern. Not sure what tests they did in Spain to rule out Ischaemic Heart Disease (IHD). Apart from Angiogram, stress test, Troponin Levels are a must.

If a cardiac cause is ruled out an endoscopy is indicated particularly as the pain is persistent.

GORD or gastro oesophageal reflux disorder is a possibility but needs confirming.

Many pains are referred pains meaning that the pathology might lie elsewhere.

Using conservative treatment for symptom relief is never a good idea.

PPIs like Omiprazole may provide relief to some with increased acidity as would Gaviscon. Losing weight and reducing fizzy drinks are effective too. It is a rarity the use of Morphine in GORD unless complications occur.

I would insist on further investigations. Spanish medicine is not bad but if you are not getting any joy I would recommend getting yourself thoroughly investigated here in the UK.

My apologies for this lengthy reply but I felt it important to do so.

I would definitely take Arunchy's advice above & seek further help at the hospital mentioning the suggestions he referred to. Persistent pain lasting so long is nature's way of letting you know it needs attention. I wouldn't ignore it for long.

Hope you feel better soon but please do insist on further checks. Did the hospital not ask you to return for a check up? Sounds like you need follow up investigation.

I have heard on numerous occasions of people including young adults suffering from chest pains too. It appears to be amongst the covid vaccinated ranks. All very odd!
