How bad is the sea?

The Mar Menor nowadays is cristal clear, and happily the problems were already solved last year.

The northern part (San Pedro del Pinatar, San Javier and Los Alcázares) is a great place.

The best beach is Mil Palmeras 20mins south of Los Alcazares, or Torre Del Horadada area. I have a holiday home in the Mar Menor Golf Resort, 7 mins from the beach at LA, The beaches of Los Alcazares and Los Narejos are nice but when I was there in September it certainly wasn't crystal clear, hence we take a 20min car ride to nicer beaches. They have lost their blue flag status

Completely agree about Mil Palmares beach, it's the best in the vicinity. However The LA beach and water quality has definitely improved in the 4 years I've had my property in Los Narejos. 

I have had a place 5 mins from Mar Menor since 2015 and never had reason to regret it. It's beautiful. 

Personally, I think almost all of the beaches along the coast are very good. The beaches in Los Alcazares and Los Narejos (among others on the Mar Menor) have the advantage of being very child friendly with shallow water and being 4 degrees warmer than the Mediterranean beaches.

My understanding about the beaches at Mar Menor and the loss of Blue Flag status is that the problem comes from intensive farming and use of fertilisers.This drains to the sea.Please correct me if I am wrong.

I am also wondering if there are plans to divert this harmful waste.I would love to see the Blue Flag status restored.
