Hi I'm waiting for an appointment for my my NLV, has anyone been through this process? Do I need my bank statements translated? I'm getting my proof of sale from UK house to be translated to show where the funds have come from.

Many thank

Kim

Yes ..been through the process..no you don't need bank statements translated ..they are not interested in your savings or money from house purchase...to be successful its your joint monthly income that matters...that's about 2800 euros a month that you have to demonstrate and have an address in Spain

We completed the NLV process successfully in May 2021 - and have just completed our first renewal.

The statement 'they are not interested in your savings or money from house purchase...to be successful its your joint monthly income that matters...that's about 2800 euros a month that you have to demonstrate...' is incorrect.

With an NLV you are not allowed any income, other than a 'passive income' - e.g. pension, income from a rental property. You need to prove 'means of maintenance' of the equivalent of €34,500 pa for a couple, which can be from savings, bonds, shares, pension, rental income, etc.

We were asked to provide 6 months bank statements and these were then summarised, along with our other 'means of maintenance', by our solicitor in Spanish.

They were not interested in our savings amount ...we produced those documents ...they merely highlighted on our bank statements in marker pen our income into the bank...

We completed our NLV in April and moved over here 3 weeks ago. We hired a Spanish Solicitors to do all the paperwork for us. It was money well spent. I take it you have Police Check and Medical Cert Apostled. The monthly income is not important its the amount of funds you have in the bank that is the key. Its roughly £34000 for the first year then double for the next 2 years when you renew. Bank statements need to be stamped by your branch which slmost caught me out. If you get a solicitor in Spain they will translate your documents for you. If you PM me I can give you the company that I used, well recommend them. Let me know if you need any more info.

Yes we have our police and medical apostilled and sworn translated,  my bank hsbc wouldn't stamp my statements. I have the money from the sale of my house so I'm getting the proof of sale translated to show where funds have come from. I have a friends address in spain I can use correspondence.  Hope I get an email back today from consulate.
