Hi guys,

Looking for a bit of advice - we are looking at buying in Los Alcazares, possibly Roda Golf or La Serena Golf resorts...  We have 3 children under 6, so needs to be walkable to the beach/town centre.

Or are there any other apartments/blocks with communal pools and near to the beach?

Any recommendations would be much appreciate

Hi there

We bought a Villa in lo pagan. We are 700 meters from the beach with restaurants shops etc. There are some new build apartments just up from us with communal pool.  Last time I was there only ground floor left. Glad to help if you have any questions. Just private message me.

Regards

Kay

Thank you Kay! Very helpful!

We are coming over soon to hopefully find a property right for us!

I will check them out!

Both the places you mention are IMHO too far out for what you seek. Look in Los Narejos or the old town.

Thank you Peter.

We are looking for a complex type property with pool facilities.

Is there anywhere you could recommend ?

Thanks

Walkable to the 'strip' down from the Hotel525 (Rio Nalón) and then down to the beach? Your best options are the Puerto Marina ("plum & custard") or El Divino complexes. These are just across the main road through town yet within reach of everything.

Do remember that complexes mean community charges and restrictions on what you can do to and with the property (spoke to one owner who wanted to put a shed in his garden and it took over a year to get the go-ahead), and that the vast majority are holiday homes with a lot rented out in the summer months. If you enjoy a different set of screaming kids and noisy youths appearing each week, and the pool being full of strangers who naturally care little about what the residents think then these could suit. Of course if you are just looking for a holiday home rather than somewhere to live you would just be like them.

Peter,

Thanks again

We are looking for a holiday home as you mention, somewhere we would use 3-4 times a year but ideally not rent out in between.

We have 3 young kids ourselves so location is kind of one of our priorities. To have use of a pool, close ish to the beach and also the town. This is why I have been considering Roda, somewhere a little private but within touching distance for the days we would use the beach and also secure.

I appreciate there are communal fees relating to these types of complexes but recommendations are what I'm trying to get

Thanks again 👍🏻

A personal view, but I struggle to see why anyone should  buy a place that they would only use so little? You can rent a good villa or apartment for say €1000 a week, try out different areas, have no regular outgoings like IBI and community charges, and keep the €80-120000 in your pocket. You are free then to ring the changes and holiday in Disneyland or the Canaries or anywhere in the world, rather than always going to the same place year in year out. Having said that we have family who have bought in Los Alcázares in just what you are looking at, and they are very happy with it, though the family make a lot of use of it all year round.

A permanent home is a different matter.

I totally see your view Peter and this is something we are/have considered.

With a family of 5 it's costing us the best part of £4K plus for a standard package holiday per year for a 10day/2 week break.

We have relatives with a property over there already, and having visited a number of times it's an ideal place for us and the kids.

Thanks
