Hi we have just purchased a property in Roda Village and we get the keys at the end of January and was wondering if anyone can recommend an alarm installation company ?

Securitas Direct is very expensive. There are others as good and cheaper. And if you ever move house or, for any other reason, want to cancel your Securitas Direct system, it is an absolute nightmare.

Sorry, but I cannot agree with Floki. I moved homes with Securita 3 months ago. They disassembled the equipment in the old house and reassembled in the new house on the same day. They refunded the months installment and charged a lower installment for the new home. You get what you pay for and you get treated in the same manner you treat them.

Different circumstances, Bill. The house we moved to had a different alarm system already installed. Monthly charge was, and still is, half what we paid to Securitas for years and for the same service.

Obviously if we’d been taking the Securitas system with us we’d have received the same wonderful service you did, Bill. The fact that we didn’t, speaks volumes about the company.

I don’t like your inference that the treatment we received was because we’d somehow treated them badly.

Alarm companies are legally obliged to let the police know that you are no longer a client. Securitas took months. They kept phoning to say someone would be round with the relevant form for us to sign. It never happened. In the end, they rang and dictated a message for me to resend. Just as well I speak Spanish.

You clearly didn’t read my message correctly.

Look around your area and see what company people are using, Cl1971. There are lots out there. We use a company local to our area.

I agree with Floki that you should check what households in your locality are using. In ours it was a no brainer since every house has either Securitas or no alarm. Be careful checking on prices, both the installation fee and the monthly "rental". Good Luck!
