Hi Frank,

Hearty congratulations. Our police checks are under way (5 day return), forms filled in, med insurance quote received, medical forms filled in. I have an Apostille lined up.

Just one question. We aim to buy when we are in Spain (hopefully start of Feb 22). Our medical insurance providers have asked for an address in Spain - how did you overcome this, or do you already have an address in Spain?

Hi Graham,

As I understand it you need an address. When you get to Spain, will you be renting or staying in a hotel?

We had already bought a place out there so it wasn't an issue for us.

I can pass on the details of the broker I used for the insurance...he would be able to advise.

Best regards

Frank

NON LUCRATIVE VISA

Hi

I know that I need to show I have enough money to survive in Spain and I have most of the info to move toward for the Visa.

I’ll just not straight on one thing .

I have a personal pension that I have a Summary of, I was told I could use this as evidence but would also need a substantial amount (10k) in a back account .

I was hoping I could leave it in my pension pot, as I will get taxed drawing first year down.

Hope I’ve made sense

Thank you

Hi Steve,

I think that may be a tricky one. The aim (from the Spanish side) is that you have evidence that you have sufficient funds to support yourself and any dependents. I think (but its only what I have read) that if you have a regular income from a Pension, such as a Works pension, annuity or State pension, that's ok. Having a lump sum is more problematic.

But as I say, I'm not really sure.

In my case I drew down the £30k and had it in my account to make sure.

Best regards

Frank

Hi Frank,

Our intention is to rent first. But its a bit difficult as we are in UK at the moment so trying to secure a 3 month rental without seeing a property is a bit of a tester !

Hi All

Just an update from me, We are just waiting to collect our TIE' s now so all done for our first year.

I done all the paperwork myself for myself and my partner Steve.

And we are now settling in to our new life in Spain.

This posting has been a really good support and helpful to me on my journey.

Congratulations to everyone that has made it so far and good luck to all that are still in the process.

Best Wishes

Ang x

Congrats on getting this far through the process.

My understanding (I completed the NLV process and moved over here in May 2021) is that you need an address in Spain (which could be a rental property - I'm not sure about a hotel), both for the health insurance and also as, within 1 month of arrival, you need to get added to the padron for where you are living in order to obtain your TIE.

I assume the Spanish government view is that you wouldn't apply to live in Spain unless you know where you want to live?

Not a criticism - just an observation - In my experience, most people work out whether they will qualify for an NLV; then come over and spend a few weeks / months in rental accommodation (often over several visits) whilst searching for a property to buy; then they go through the NLV process; and then move over...

Hi Rich,

We came over in September and know we want to live in the Murcia area, Basicas, Sucina, Los Acazares or within 20 minutes of those areas.

We intend to rent for 3 months then purchase in that area. I guess I could easily amend the addresses for TIE/Padron and medical insurance when we have bought our permanent residence. ?

Yes, you would need to 'de-register' on the padron where you are first living, register on the padron for where you move to and then get your TIE updated. For the healthcare, it would just be a case on changing address (just as you would if moving house in the UK).

Hi Ang

Just wanted to catch and see how you are progressing.

I have had my visit to the Consulate on 20th August but still waiting for a reply and getting rather nervous.  I'm booked to fly out on 27th September and hoped to have everything sorted by then.  I had to start all again as I ran out of time before becuase of the GP delay.  My only real worry is that my Bank statement from Sabadell in Los Alcazares was printed from my Account on line and not an "Original"  I was also sent out to get Staements from my Banks here to prove that my Pension payments were being paid in!

Fingers crossed!!

Vic

Hi Vic

Long time !!!!   I hope you are settled into Spanish life, we have had so many things happen over the last year, I had a bad car accident luckily no physical damage to anyone, we paid a hefty deposit on a new property and have been fighting to get it back as the builder since sold the property on to someone else !! My partner was diagnosed with cancer and it has take 4 months in the UK to have him operated on but gladly got him back now to finish any treatment here.  We are just going into our year 2/3 renewal I have all the paperwork together and a digital certificate but the system is a bugger to work out.

Then I thought I would just make an appointment and go in person !!!! Nope no idea how to make an appointment now for the renewal so back to stressing over the menial stuff again.

Would be great to meet up in Los Alcazarez or Sucina if you prefer for a vino or a cafe con leche hope you get this message x
