I have read all the comments about  getting a TIE ....all very interesting but how has anyone managed to get an appointment?? The foreign office doesn't answer the phone and I have yet to find a web site that is any help at all. If you have done it can you please let me in on the secret? Many thanks.

Better to get someone in the know to make all the arrangements for you. Find a local gestoria who does this for a living. It will take away most of the pain!

We used a lady called Fiona who was absolutely brilliant. Accompanied us to both appointments and did all the paperwork and appointment booking for us and our daughter.

My husband and I have our appointments next Tuesday for our TIE and we have used Liberty Seguras in Los Narejos. We also used them to change our driving licence and they have made the process for both really easy and stress free.

I recently had to change my address on my green residences card so thought I may as well get the TIE.

Downloaded form 790/012 which is the form you need to make your payment (12.00 Euro) which can be done in any bank. and downloaded from the police web site.

Then you need to download form EX 23 and complete this, you will also need an updated copy of you Padron and your passport when attending the appointment.

I completed the form on 10th February and had a choice of appointments for the following Monday 15th February one at 9.00am and the other at midday, I took the midday.

Now awaiting a communication to pick up my card which should be any day now,

It is good to try by yourself and get used to the Spanish way of life. and only cost you time not extra money.

Hope this may be of some help to you

Had 4 replies to my cry for help and I sincerely thank you all. Decided to go to Liberty Seguras who simply said "We do it all!" And they are. Once again many thanks.

Hi

I was feeling lazy when I needed to change my driving licence so did as you are doing and went to Liberty Seguras and they said they will do everything and I would not have to go to traffico which I was trying to avoid, However in the end they said I had to go with them.

I received my licence and noticed that I could no longer drive mini buses, I paid extra at my medical to insure I would keep all classes, when I queried this with  Liberty Seguras they said they did not know about this but could do nothing all I could do was change my licence back to the UK?

Just saying this is one company I would not recommend, by my experience allthough I am sure others are happy,

Hi.

Regarding the T.I.E. card , what office are we using in this area, Cartagena or Murcia?

Thanks in advance.

Dave.

Useful post by Eduardo - may I ask if you actually had to show your padron certificate, as I believe that if your green resident card shows you as permanent and has your current address this is not necessary?

We intend changing to TIEs ourselves as I prefer to pay 24 Euros and a drop of petrol rather than the 2 x 120 Euros quoted by a “helpful service”.

Hello group!

I would just like to point out the Liberty Seguros is the Insurance company that Miguel (Insurance Agent Liberty) is an agent for! I also work as an agent for Liberty Seguros, but Liberty do not do Licence changes or Residency applications. I find it a great disservice that Miguel and his team at Insurance Agent Liberty has no distinguishing name difference and carries out services that Liberty Seguros should not be held responsible for. Each agency works differently and looks after its customers differently and provides different services. IT seems to me that those that enlist this office to do other tasks, are not always successful or happy with the service, and Liberty Seguros gets the flack.

I just wanted to point that out.
