At 0.25 am Sunday morning my wife and I were mugged on our doorstep, it was an extremely horrible experience. We notified the Police who attended quickly. We were told to go to the Police Station on Monday. The police experience was almost as bad as the mugging. Making the statement we felt more like the criminal. There was no empathy what's so ever. The officer made no eye contact and almost made it clear that the whole process was an inconvenience to him. The Police never came to carry out forensics despite the incident happened in the glass fronted area of our home at El Divino.

There is little wonder that these incidents of muggings keep happening when the Police don't seem to take them seriously.

In the meantime please be careful.

Has there been several muggings in the area?

Hopefully you escaped uninjured, and the police will look at any CCTV to find the culprits. You would think the police would put all their efforts into finding them, crazy they don't appear to be doing so. Did you get a good look at those involved

Really sorry to hear that. Sadly it is happening a lot. A young man was beaten badly last Saturday night walking back to Roda golf by a gang of thugs.

A lady was mugged walking home at night a few weeks ago with her husband from la playa bar in Estella de mar. He pulled her necklace off and she was left in shock.

Those are just 2 incidents I know about from friends.

We have to be vigilant and the police have to address these issues.

Hope your recovering as well as you can.

"police will look at any CCTV "

Can you tell me where there are any CCTV cameras outside closed shop areas in Spain? A ridiculous policy.

Some property owners have their own CCTV ,it's not that unusual. And what Policy are you talking about?

I would urge everyone to be more vigilant now we have the darker evenings etc , this sadly is an increasing annual thing , I agree the police show very little interest as a couple months ago my wife and i witnessed a 4 person robbery just 3 doors away from us , I telephoned the police who could have caught them red handed but i was told no one was available to attend and to come to the police station the next morning .SO please dont carry valuables on your person at night especially if youve had a couple drinks , be alert and always try to walk with company

What exactly is the Policy.

It is national government policy to restrict CCTV as they think being on camera is an infringement of civil liberties. You will not see any cameras in Spain in public places, only traffic cameras. A cynic might think that it suits the government to be able to make money out of motorists, but not to provide evidence meaning the police have some evidence forcing them to act!

It is permitted to have a camera in your home, but it may not show any area outside the property boundary, and if it is a dummy camera that can be seen by a neighbour you must get their permission for it to be there, as the law says that the possibility of being filmed infringes their rights. If recordings are made then it needs a licence.

This prevents anything like the following happening here - not the robbery, the catching of the villain!

Man jailed after handbag robbery caught on CCTV
