I posted a massage some time ago as I don't know anything about the tax situation. I am a non resident, use my 90 day stay twice in the year. I don't work at all in Spain. Is there a tax charge for purely having a property in Spain? I understand I have to pay IBI (similar to UK council tax) . I noticed on my Spanish Bank Account there was an amount of approx 400 euros taken out for what looks like a tax of some sort. I asked the question to my bank and was advised to see my solicitor.

Before we became residents we used to take the form and pay at the bank.

Yes you need to pay non residents tax which is different to ibi.

The easiest way to do the non residents tax if you are in uk is going through spanish tax forms online. They will pay the bill for you for an extra charge

You can pay in any collaborating bank. Just go in and ask.If they don't you can use Spanish tax forms when you get home. You have till 31 Dec. They are pretty efficient but obviously you incur a cost .

The money has already been taken from my account without me filling any forms in.

I had no idea there was a tax for non residents, I should have looked into it more. Is 400 euros about right, I occupy my property for approx 180 days, the property purchased for 100,000 euros + taxes

Download on line. Modelo 210 in English.

You need to know your Valor catastral and whether it has been revised in the last 10 years. If it has then use 1.1 per cent ,if not then it's 2 per cent. Then use the formula

Val cat X 1.1 or 2 X 24 per cent X a half for each of you.

Good luck!

Maybe let Spanish tax forms do it for you this year as they will find out if your VC has been revised.
