We're looking to have a gentle pop at a golf driving range, just to see whether Elaine 'gets it' or not.  I've hacked my way round a few courses in my younger years but we'd like to find somewhere to go together and hit a few buckets.  Not looking to play a course at all yet, so does anyone have suggestions of where we should head for where a right rusty old bloke and a complete beginner could use a driving range without going through the rigmarole of green fees?  We've seen online that most of the local courses DO have ranges but really hoping to hear from folk who've used them and therefore how receptive they would be to us turning up with a few clubs and what the likely cost would be per 50 balls or 50 swear words!!!  Many thanks.

Thanks folks!  Looks like we're going to be able to have a go at this without feeling that we're encroaching on some private world!  Cheers
