Electricity Cost.

Has the cost of electricity increased dramatically recently as per UK. Has Iberdrola increased their standing daily charge as my bills seem to be increasing in the last few months despite the property being empty.

Yes prices have increased
Check your previous bill to current bill to see if standing charge has increased.

I gather the standing charge must be as the property is empty.
Dec 21..€17.47
Jan 22..€18.12
Feb 22 ..€20.39
Mar 22..€22.96
Will check April's, surely they won't increase it every month!
The Standing Charge (potencia) increased by about 18% at the start of the year, although in reality, this was approx. €0.015 per kW day for Peak.
Your bills aren't always for the same period and, for example, your January bill will have included some of December when the rate was lower, February is a shorter month, etc. so March is more likely to represent the values going forward.
None of this relates to consumption charges, which will have gone up unless you are on a fixed tariff (same as the UK); however, the Spanish government has extended the reduction in IVA to 10% (from 20%) and the reduction in the electricity tax to 0.5% - both until end-June.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply,I thought it was probably an increase in the daily charge. Don't know if you're in the UK or in Spain but people in UK are going to be struggling big time this year with the big increase in gas especially and electric also. And further increases in September. Think many will go tho Spain for the winter months as probably cheaper than staying at home.
