II've had an email from Ibadrola offering me a smart meter along with cost reductions over 12 months if I proceed.

Has anyone taken up this offer or have any relevant experience of these meters?

Thanks Jeff

We have had smart meters on Camposol for about 2 years now maybe longer.

Never had any problem with it at all.

No idea what the cost reductions are are.

You would need to ask them specifically what the cost reductions are going to be.

Smart meters should be fine - no need to provide meter readings, no risk of estimated bills and you will pay accurately for your consumption.

As per Roland's response, confirm, preferably in writing, what the offered cost reductions will be - will this be a lower tariff (which you will be able to check on your bill) or a % discount against your current tariff?

And, if you go ahead, take a note of the final reading on the old meter and the start reading on the new meter in case any mistakes are made.

I don't remember having a choice, they just said they were going to do it, and a few weeks later it was done! No idea what the advantage is for me, but it saves them going round reading the meters!

Yes there was no choice.

They just turned up & changed the meters.

Yes. From memory I think they dropped a leaflet saying the power would be cut off. All done very quickly.
