We are in the village of Lomas Del Rame, just the other side of the AP7 from Serena. They airlifted someone trapped in the car yesterday from the tunnel, just by the hotel. I drove past the hotel this morning and the service road leading to the motorway junction is impassable. When i drove this morning there were no barriers, but it was very hairy where the culverts cross the road, with lots of water still flooding in. I've got a big 4x4, but was still worried. When i came back the authorities had barrier-ed off the service road, so had to go all the way around on the 332 then past the hotel and golf course. It all looked pretty devastated with much of the road and tarmac brought up by the tunnel. The road outside the hotel was full of lumps of concrete.
I'm usually quite critical of the Spanish, as they are nowhere near are efficient as we are in the UK due to their crippling bureaucracy, but have to say they've done a sterling effort to get things moving again over the last two days. I'm sure it will be no time before everything is back to normal.
