Hi Anne,

I’m no decorating expert but when we were decorating and looking at paint finishes we were told that due to the way houses are built, temps etc to stick with the Spanish made products as they are made for purpose......

Thanks, Annie.

I suspect that the advice is paramount for outdoor paints.  But we're on about painting 3 wooden indoor doors.  We could have got a 2.5L tin of Duxlux no-drip gloss via Amazon.es for €50 !!!  We only need 1 L.

Maybe  Spanish do not have manufacturing capabilities for more chemically complex paints (UK & Germany defo produce sun/heat resistant paints) and importing would cost a fortune meaning they'd end up with a lot of very expensive unsold paints on their shelves!  Fairs fair tho.  We used their emulsion and it was great.

Have found the paint sold by the Chinese shops to be pretty poor, like water as you say. Paint purchased from Leroy Merlin has been much better, on a par, if not better, than emulsion/gloss I've used before in the UK. Have not tried the specialist paint shops yet but will be soon as LM's range of emulsion colours is adequate but not too extensive.

We have found, to our cost, that thee are varying types of quality paints allowing many rogue builders to buy the cheap watery options and yet charge for the good stuff

Our builder, who we trust, took us to a shop in Mazarron called Pinturos Dario (that's what appears on our card statement which he just refers to as  Sarios) which is on a corner at the top of Mazarron
