Hi all

I am new to the forum and looking to buy a property in Los Urrutias.

I have visited the property a few times and had a look around the area in general.

I was wondering if anyone has any additional information about the area or any hints and tips. I’ve read lots of different posts about the Mar Menor, good and bad, and was wondering if it is ok to swim in.

Thanks in advance.

Best wishes,

Justine.

We are on El Carmoli.  There was a problem a few years ago with the quality of the Mar Menor.  I understand It was caused by the farmers it has since been resolved. We swim and have never had a problem.  The locals at Los Alcazares swim most days.  I prefer Mar de Cristal the sea there is a very high concentration of salt you can float.  I have noticed the Mar Menor is now very blue and clear again.

Hope this helps

You can always swim it's not harmful but it doesn't look very appealing at times.

Hi Justin, we stay in El Algar and love it this is a great area to stay, my wife sums the area up well by saying you are 15 mins from everywhere. The Mar Menor is brill to swim in people say it is 5c warmer than the med. if you visit La Manga you have the grace of swimming in both from one side of the road to the other.
