Water quality
Hi, hoping to buy a property in the area soon - has there been any improvement in the quality of the water or the beach or are there any plans for the immediate future does anyone know? Many thanks, Marion

This has been an ongoing problem for years in the Mar Menor. More frequent gota frias are exacerbating the problem. I have a place close to Los Alcazares and it’s a source of disappointment that I have to drive 20mins north to swim in med (personally wouldn’t swim in MM) Others are probably happy to do so. The Mar Me or no longer has blue flag status. Sorry but I don’t see this be rectified anytime soon.

Thanks ever so much for sharing - disappointed but makes my decision clear. Will look further either side of the Mar Menor.
Happy New Year and thanks again.

We walk along the MM at Los Alcazares most days and the water quality has greatly improved since the 2019 Gota Fria. It is alive with fish, they are all along. They wouldn’t be there if there were any issues.
The council have done a fantastic job in repairing the damage and the place looks wonderful.
I also understand much of the problem was due to run off from the campo, again there has been a concerned effort to get the farmers to clean up their act.
Just a shame no one is getting the benefit due to the pandemic.

Thank you Nick, so it is being addressed but still not really fit for swimming ...
Appreciate you taking the time to reply.
