I’m not a resident but have a holiday home here. I am looking at different banking

options as Sabadell charges are getting really expensive just to manage direct debits.

I’ve looked at Starling but am not sure that additional charges may be made by iberdrola to accept payments. I’ve heard about WISE and wanted to know if any other non residents use this bank to pay their direct debits or if anyone can recommend any others

If you do a search using the facility at the top of this page for 'Banking' or 'Free Banking' you will find lots of information.

I have used Wise.com to pay all my DD for a number of years now.

Yu need to open a euro account.

If you want a Spanish bank look at the Cajamar Wefferent account, all done online & free to use unless you go into a branch when you will be charged.

Hi. We are non resident too and use Wise for direct debits but also load up a Starling account for the plane and other debit card transactions. I usually get my euros in the UK and bring those with me, but only a minimum amount as the Starling card works fine. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that. I have loaded the Starling card and as you say much easier than carrying lots of cash about. I will look at Wise too. Was it easy enough to get the direct debits set up

Hi, yes it's easy. The only one we had a problem with was the car tax paid to the ayuntamiento but to be honest, I think they were just being awkward!!

We opened a Euro Wise Account in September it took a Good month to get Direct Debits switched over as if you rang the Companies if you didnt speak English they just hung up so had to find Email Address.Only one that hasnt yet been taken is Council Tax that's due in June I believe its should go through successfully as had correspondence to say bank details been changed but they were trying to say they couldnt accept Wise which they can as Wise accepts Sepa International payments.I have closed my Bank Sabadell over phone.

You will be better of changing your cash once over in Spain  as you will get a better exchange rate than UK.

Re IBI booked appointment by phone wont except you turning up.  Went this morning with my wise account details and NIE.  all changed paid annually by dd to my Wise account.  You need Wise to give you proof of your account details for setting up dd which they send via email attachment.

The iberdrola and Aqualia I set up dds from the UK.
