Hi

We are thinking of moving to Mar De Cristal, could anyone tell me what it is like to live there all year round.   Are there many bars and restaurants open through the winter.

We have only visited to look at property so have never stayed on the urbanisation but hoping to come out in October.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Michelle

We don't actually live in Mar de Cristal but we spend quite a bit of time there essentially as we moor our boat there and play Padel Tennis at the Tennis club. It's obviously quieter in the winter and the bars/restaurants open on "winter hours"   As you probably know there is a small supermarket which is open all year round. If you have a car you're only a stones throw from Los Belones which would cater for your needs and Cabo de Palos (that's we we are) which has some visitors all year round.

During the winter months there are a lot of English living on the La Manga campsite who partake in many activities (Padel I've already mentioned) so we join them regularly. There aren't as many during the summer but there are still a few all year rounders.

As for actually living in MDC I can't really comment but know a few people who do and they like it.

Hope that helpd

Hi Michelle, although we don't live in Mar de Cristal full time we do have a penthouse apartment in Albatros lll, and in the last ten years have been out there at all times of the year.

The area is very Spanish which is why we love it so much, but you've still got Los Belones close by with restaurants, also Cabo just ten minutes down the road with a large Upper supermarket and Mercadona.

As already said obviously it's quite out of season but there's still plenty to do, our neighbours are also English and spend the winter out there, approximately October to March. They keep active by playing tennis, there are also several groups which do a lot of walking in the calblanque national park and cycling.

If you would like to speak to them for advice let me know and with there permission I'll pass on their contact details.

We also rent our apartment out so if you are looking for somewhere to stay in October and we can help let me know and I'll give you details of the web site where we advertise it.

I live in Los Narejos but enquired at MdC about mooring a 10 metre sailing yacht. I like it there very much, although realised that I would have limitations as to the Med. The cost was to be 2,800 Euros PA but to increase this year.

That's a lot of money , I live in France at the moment and it's only 125 euros a year here
