When you get residencia you will not be allowed to drive a UK-reg car (whichever licence you have) and if detected you risk confiscation - at worst "on the spot".
You may need to consider sending it by grua or driving back soon - you would have to go through the test to leave and pay for the 2 tests on days 5 & 8 when you get there, even if you stay for less time. You will as things stand need to get a test to re-enter Spain, and be aware that you will need proof that you live here.
Other option is to contact the dealers that buy UK cars and sell it in Spain.

Or keep it and rematriculate it onto Spanish plates...though you will always be sat on the right.
As a non resident you can only legally have a UK registered car in Spain for 6 months.
And they do keep catching people particularly on Camposol.

I have seen quite a few police road blocks recently in our area. The cars I saw them pulling over were UK reg cars and they are towing them away. Assume they are checking for over stayers as well. If you didn't register your intent to swap your licence by the end of last year you will need to take a Spanish test.
I have registered several UK reg RHD cars here because they were so much cheaper 2nd hand even with the cost of having them delivered on an articulated vehicle carrier . some 500 to 600 UKpnds but only took 3 days door to door and no quarantine!!
It is quite expensive to change plates , about 1000 euors or more depending on the age and the value of the car as determined by the trafrfic office. Also you jneed to remember to change the exmergency lights at the rear to the offside.
We used a local expat helper to do the business as they know the procedures and charged us 300 euros as part of the 1000 total bill.
I have driven RHD vehicles in Spain for 20 yearsand only have to remind myself to keep to the RHS when pulling out onto the main road!!!
Good luck.

I think you also need two reversing lights, one either side and headlights have to be changed too, deflectors not accepted any more.
Yes headlight beam deflectors have never been acceptable when re registering a car in Spain.
A vehicle with them on will fail it's initial import ITV.
The cost of replacing the headlights could be around 400 - 500 euro depending on the car.
Do note however that some makes of car have headlight adjusters.
I can't just remember which ones though.
Volvo's headlights - takes 60 secs to change thank goodness , first Volvo cost 450 euro0s at Malaga Volvo Dealer, second volvo cost 150 euros on ebay from Netherlands, 3 rd volvo cost nowt!
Yes correct need reversing lights but mine has 2 anyway.
Cheers Chris
