We are visiting mar menor area to look at properties with a view to buying in the area. From your experience is it better to book well in advance or is there any savings to be made booking at the last minute. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

I book my flights about 3 months in advance to get the best prices.

I use a combination of  Google flight tracker and airhints.com to find the best prices.

Thanks that is helpful. We've been looking at flights over the past few weeks as it is a spur of the moment trip, after managing to find some time off work. Flights have pretty much stayed static in price and as we near the time, if anything, they appear to be rising. So much for last minute flights being cheaper. Must be a thing of the past

The Thomas Cook thing has messed up all of the last minute prices. Booking ahead is the most reliable way but if you are off season or travelling mid week there can usually be some very good late deals.

From my experience prices tend to rise closer to the date you want to travel. The airlines use very clever software these days and fares can even go up on the same day if you keep searching. Easyjet prices used to go up after every 7 bookings, I don't know if that still happens as I tend to use Jet2 more these days.

Killing the cookies on your PC will help as the sites won't remember you've been looking. All a bit of a game these days.

Book in advance. Price goes up nearly the date you want to fly. East Midlands airport do good deals at this time of year
