Hello ,

Myself and hubby are over from the uk , and we are looking for places to potentially buy a second home to ultimately retire to.

Are there any areas in the marmenor that you would recommend ?

We would like an ex pat community , and we would like to be within walking distance of the sea and a promenade where you can buy a coffee and sit and watch the world go by.

We would like a gated community so we could lock up and leave.

Hi Lornal

Where are you now? Drive around the costa calida (OK not the best after the "gota fria") : Feel each "town/village"

If you have time/found a spot: rent for a week and look what is around you.

Make each one a list what is important for you and compare...Hobbies?

"an ex pat community , and we would like to be within walking distance of the sea and a promenade where you can buy a coffee and sit and watch the world go by. " is very vague......

Will you have a car?

What is your budget?

Do you expect that you will have a lot of visitors to "entertain" OR visitors are OK BUT let them rent if they would like to come....

Uuuppps   lot to think of

Hello I have a house for sale on the Mar Menor golf resort which is gated and a lot of ex pats it is not within walking distance to the sea, but about 10 mins by car. The boulevard is nice to have a coffee and people watch. The location of my property is the peaceful end with stunning views over the mountains. What is your budget? Kind regards.

Check out Torre de la Horadada. Beach is beautiful, good migrant community (from the UK) and short walking to the beach where the water is cooler and clearer than the mar menor part. IMO. We have moved here from Scotland since June and just love it. Not sure on the house prices etc as we rent but there are many developments going up new build and I'm sure there will be resales. Its quieter after August/September but we love i

We also suggest Lo Pagan, from where we live we have access to 3 beaches within minutes, take a look at some of the smaller estate agents in the area to get a feel eg Zariko.

Once you have walked the area you will start to see a number of estate agents so it depends what you want. There seem to be ample existing properties for sale alongside new builds.

I also recommend Torre de la Horadada. There are lots of expats, and it is not so packed as the Mar Menor area. There is a language exchange group also and you can meet Spanish people if you want.
