Hi

Can anyone tell me if you have to have a Spanish bank account for three months before you can apply for residency please? We are retired and have pensions. We are coming over to Spain next week to look for long term rental before finding a property to buy.

thanks a lot

Angela and graham

Open a Spanish bank account and once you move here have your pensions paid into it. If you are going to rent around Los Alcazares you will need to go to Cartagena to apply for residencia. You dont need to pay for a gestor or lawyer there are many people to help you through thecprocess. I recommend Andreea who manages Trebol estate agents in the 525 square.

You can get your NIE from the Spanish consulate in London or Edinburgh before you get here.

You’ll need that for renting and your bank will need that as soon as you have it.

All the info you need you can find on the CAB Spain website.

Sufficient income per couple for residency is about €8500 a year so easily covered by two UK full state pensions!!!

Look at info on CAB Spain website
