Hi, I am looking at the Mar Menor for my next rental and would like to hear any recommendations including how it is living in the area. Is it easy to get in and out of the area for shopping or is there big traffic problems etc. As Murcia is another of those autonomous regions I guess a few changes have to be made to settle. My only experience has been La Manga a few years back.

What are you looking for?

Holiday or moving?

Are you driving or flying? There are 2 Airports: Alicante or Corvera (Murcia > RMU)

Would you like to have Party or quiet & relaxing?

What do you mean by “shopping”?

Food & essentials:

Carrefour, Mercadona, Coop, Discounter Aldi & Lidl BUT I would always go to the Markets:

Tuesday and Saturdays: Los Alcazares, Friday: El Algar, Sunday:  Cabo de Palos just to name a few.

Just browsing:

Primark, Mediamarkt, Leroy Merlin > like B&Q is in Cartagena, BIG shopping center like Lakeside is La Zenia near Torrevieja. “Upper class” Cartagena & Murcia.

La Manga Strip is during the summer season (Holidays: July & August) like the M25 in the UK.

Mar Menor has lots of different towns around its shores offering different things...maybe a few short term rents first and try a few different places

Yesterday, hubby and I went for a bike ride from El Mojón then along the boardwalk of Mar Menor from Lo Pagan to Santiago de la Rivera. The views were stunning!! What is there not to like this time of the year?!! The beautiful boardwalk with its palm trees, the marinas, clean and wide sea shores.. Plenty of indoor and outdoor cafés and chiringuitos. Wide and clean sea shores to sun bathe or just chill. Like others have said depends on what you're   looking for. But since you're coming anyways and you have been in La Manga before, this time you will have the opportunity to explore the area and its surroundings a bit more to see if what you're looking for is in this area.

Best wishes

Hi, thanks for your reply.

Renting long term 1-5 years if good place and area. Quiet is good and major shops not to far is great, mainly for my wifes shopping therapy lol, but do need local supermarkets for food and also nice markets are needed too. Many thanks for listing all those shops, that was a great help. The nearest hospital and clinic would be good to know too.

Thanks for your reply. We are doing homework online lol but far reaching for a long term rental from Costa Calida to Costa del Sol which we know is expensive the more west you go. We are currently in the Granada province after rentals in Costa de la Luz, Costa Blanca and Albanchez in the mountainous area of Almeria.

What are the best areas on the Mar Menor, especially for access on the roads when living there.

Thanks for your reply.

Like the sound of a good boardwalk.

Looking for a really long term rental and Mar Menor maybe will be the next place to settle as we would not buy again and we have a motorhome for exploring Spain. Costa de la Luz, Costa Blanca, Costa Tropical and even Albanchez in the Almerian mountainous area we have resided and all good to look back on, but now looking for a more permanent rental with room for the motorhome

How is the Los Nietos area for living and/or  the Las Lomas del Rame area for resonably easy access missing big traffic jams?

Thank you for your replies so far

No such thing as traffic jams here...unless you get stuck behind a herd of goats or sheep!!

Hi there. I'm planning on spending a few months in Camposol/Mar Menor area next April till end of June but can't find anything for rent in A or B sector of Camposol.  Would appreciate any information regarding long term rentals in these areas.

Many thanks June
