Christmas in Spain

In a press conference this afternoon, Health Minister of Spain Salvador Illa, has announced some regulations and also some recommendations, about how Christmas can be celebrated this year.

➡️ Between December 23rd and January 6th, movement between autonomous communities is limited, except in cases of family and friend grouping (and for other justified reasons which have been permitted since the start of the State of Alarm)

🔸Therefore between those dates, those who want to travel to be with their family/friends over Christmas, even if they live in another autonomous community, will be permitted to do so.

🔸The Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands are excepted. They are working on other types of measures.

🔸But the government’s “recommendation” is to limit movement as much as possible.

➡️ On Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day, meetings will be restricted to 10 people, including children.

➡️The curfew will be extended to 1:30am (Christmas Eve & New Years Eve)

➡️ Some autonomous communities may add stricter measures

💬 The health minister states: “These dates of the year have a very special component, we all understand what family or close friends means. We are sure that citizens will respect the rules. We are risking a lot, it has cost a lot to bend the curve again. We did not take these measures for pleasure.”

EDIT: remember each autonomous community will soon announce their own perhaps slightly different measures too.

E.g. in Andalucía whether hospitality may open later than 6pm, e.g. in murcia whether movement will be permitted between municipalities etc... when we have all this information of course we will post 😉 gracias for your patience.
