Hi there. I have just joined the Forum as we are looking to buy a holiday home in Spain. Before we come over to view properties it would be really helpful to get some information on the area. Essentially we are looking for:-

Coastal location, Spanish and international population, medium sized town with bars, restaurants, plenty of walking along coast, nice beaches, beach bars etc

We don't play golf so don't want to be on a golf complex but near courses would help any rental opportunities if we choose to

An area that has other interesting coastal and inland places to visit and is still

We are looking for a 3 bedroom property (Duplex, Villa, Apartment) with etc walking distance from beach and town (max 10 mins) with a budget of 拢220k incl costs. Can anyone recommend an estate agent in the area?

My wife is fixated with the better weather in the Costa Del Sol but not sure if that the temperature is much different?

She also thinks the Murcia area is industrial! What's Murcia like?

I don't know the Costa Calida / Mar Menor areas so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

We plan to come out at end of May.

Many thanks,

Tim

I think the best way to go is to just visit the costa calida with an open mind en rely on your feeling about the places you visit.

We started our search in the costa blanca and were quite disapointed about what we saw along the costa blanca south. We were ready to give up when the last agent we planned some visits with tought he knew what we were looking for and took us to Lo Pagan. That place immediately felt right for us,we bought our house about 4 years ago now and still love the area altough it is booming at the moment so we hope it will still keep its Spanish charm.

I don t know the Costa de Sol so I can t answer your question conserning the differences between them but the costa calida surely isn t industial.

One thing I know for sure, you will be able to find a lot more for your 220000拢 at the costa calida 馃槉

Good luck with your search!

Los Alcazares has everything you have mentioned and your money goes further here than Costa del sol, I don't think you will be disappointed, Murcia is quite agricultural, over 320 days of sunshine a year, apart from this last week it's been erm how shall I put it...damp, the new Corvera (Murcia int'l) airport just 30 minute drive, good luck in finding what you are looking for.

Hi

We started looking in Torrevieja but wanted less touristy. We looked all over and loved Lo Pagan. You have great walking.  The area is typically Spanish. Option of swimming in the Med or Mar Menor.  Not industrial at all.  Closest biggest town San Pedro. Best thing is to look for yourself with an open mind and see what ticks your boxes. We bought a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom 120m2 flat for about a third of what you are looking to spend.

Good luck - hope that you find what you are looking for.

Also check out El Moj贸n Murcia/El Moj贸n Alicante. Yes we're neighbors separated by a street line. We get to enjoy each other's non crowded, non industrial beach towns. Walking distance to beaches and bars and caf茅s. Very quiet. With a vehicle, rented, taxi or owned, you can access the towns in the vecinity in less than 15 minutes. But beachwise, you have it in your backyard. We love it here. We bough 3 years ago and have no regrets. We love our safe, quiet, Zen like area. Have enough bars and " chiringuitos" to entertain us. But not too far away, Lo Pagan is less than 10 min. drive for added excitement. I really shouldn't advertise our El Moj贸n but sharing makes my heart full! It wasn't in our plan to buy here but it had been written in our journey even before we got here. Your budget is big enough to buy a "Mansion" in El Moj贸n Murcia.

El Moj贸n Alicante taxes on the amount of purchase are 2% much higher than El Moj贸n Murcia. But, either or, you'll get a good deal!

Best wishes! Your journey will take you where you need to be FOR NOW!

Costa Calida (warm coast) is warmer than Costa del Sol and a lot more arid.  Weather is great well into October.

Have you thought about looking in Costa Blanca North. Javea and Moraira are beautful and considered the jewel in the Costa blanca crown.  It's much more expensive than Costa calida.  Denia in that area is also worth a look. The north is more lush and green but obviously a little more rain.  Much prettier area than Costa blanca south or Costa Calida.   In CB south look at Mil Palmera gorgeous beach or Torre de la Horadada.
