Hi to all of you :),

It's bean now for two years thinking and dreaming to move to Spain. We have visited Barcelona many times and we like it a lot. At the moment we live in Slovenia. We are Slovenians. I'm older :) guy with family. I have two young sons, one still going to school, youngest in kindergarten (that's the biggest problem), me and wife have good jobs, but we all like sun :). So the question is how difficult is for a family to move suddenly to another country and start living from the start. So we need to get new jobs in Spain, kids have to go to school, first we will rent a house, later on we will buy it. In Slovenia I work as receptionist in a big hotel, wife works in a company office.

-How big are the salary in Mar Menor.

-Is there a basketball club that my oldest son could train

-will it be a problem because we do not speak Spanish

-do you know anyone who just moved to Mar Menor.

thanks for the answers :)

Regards from Ljubljana,

zeljko

As an EU citizen, you have the right to live and work in any other EU country, but if you intend to stay for more than 3 months then you need to register your residence there.

You also need to prove an income of a minimum of €600 per month per adult or have at least €7,000 per adult in a Spanish bank account.

Unfortunately, the unemployment rate in Spain is high - around 13%; and youth employment is much higher at 30% - so there is significant competition for jobs. I think you'll find it very difficult to get any of the jobs you have mentioned without speaking Spanish (flip this round - would you expect a Spaniard to move to Slovenia and get a job without speaking Slovenian?).

Your children will need to learn Spanish too - and quickly, in order to be successful at school and also to make friends.

I'm sorry if this sounds negative, it's just the relevant facts!

Thanks for your help. I knew that the biggest problem will be Spanish language for my kids.

Maybe just a long vacation in Spain for me and my wife ;)
