Hi, we are looking at retirement soon, both 55

Is anyone aware of the 25k euro per couple /

year rule that looks to be in place for retirement?, looks like you now need to prove that you can support yourself until state pension age...... I'll need £325k showing on my pension pot to be able to apply for residency! Any one any clue please.... Mick

Look at the Non-Lucrative Residence Visa.

It has been suggested that the IPREM figure has increased, taking the income requirement to 33k Euros/year for a couple.

Many thanks i will have a read through,I am assuming the pot you have can  reduce per year  until you reach state pension age?

I was advised that £15k pa would give you a reasonable life (no rent) in the area. I wonder why £30k is now a bench mark?

It's really going to limit early retirement I guess?

Thanks again mick

The UK is now a "foreign country" rather than a fellow-EU member, so the same requirements apply that Americans, Australians, South Africans etc have had to fill. Thus you will need private health insurance, a guaranteed income, if you drive take a Spanish driving test to change your UK licence and so on.

Hi there is som information on YouTube if you but basically 27500€ for the main person the 6000 € to 7500€ depending on area so roughly £30000 for a couple for the first year then twice that when you apply for the next step which is two years residency but applying is now a five year thing so so on but once you’ve got it then no need prove income I believe also you will need full medical insurance for you both could be up to £2500 a year and you now you have to take a theory and a driving test in Spain but brexit is still new and negotiations are on going so fingers crossed it could change again but we’ll see

This is my take on things in a broad manner so may not be 100% as with most thing check check and check again

Hope this helps goof luck

Yeh mick it’s because Britain’s put the same or similar funds needed for settlement in the uk for foreign nationals the driving license may change hopefully it will and they’ll do a direct exchange with the money you need to prove I’ve 2500€ a month for at least 6months

Myself and wife or looking at moving we bought our house in November on sector B camposol but didn’t have the opportunity to get out to Spain 🇪🇸 shot in the foot that one but I’m going to pay the money into an account and just top it up as I need in reality it’s not a great change 10grand to 30grand  we add budgeted 16 to 20 grand a year moving forward anyway so it’s a matter of an extra 10grand and there always the hope that things might get easier for us 🙏all

Things change all the time read past posts there’s a lot of info on here I ask recommend YouTube loads of vids on camposol and surrounding area check out expat in mazzarron Spain speaks etc my lawyer in Spain although there not much post brexit

Keep safe

Ray

Cheers Ray,

We are looking at pension drawdown, so as long as the authorities can see the availability then should be OK, I might have to take the 25% tax free amount if they need to see it in the bank, hoping to buy on the MCC soon

Cheers mick
