I got antigen and few thru Alicante Airport today with no issue on way to Gatwick

Thank you for the information. Did you have to book in advance for a test 2 days later to prove that you have an appointment booked in the UK?

Sorry talking cross purpose here..    going from Spain to UK..  A) You need negative antigen test result 72 hours before you leave.  B)  You need to have booked a PCR test to take in UK on day 2  AFTER you arrive back    the reference from this UK booking will be needed on your UK Travel Locator Form..

Just to add the day you arrive is day 0 so for example if you arrive on a Thursday you take the pcr test in uk on a Saturday. We had our results from randox the next day.

Yes the reference numbers need to be input onto your PLF.

Due to a spike in Covid cases returning from Spain the UK government reviewed the antigen test and have decided it is not good enough. While they recommend upgrading to a pcr test this is currently not mandatory. However, when they announced the changes to the traffic light system for countries to visit they stated nothing would change for 3 weeks when it will be reviewed again. My guess is at that point they will confirm that the antigen test will no longer be acceptable, which of course increases the cost to return to the UK

Thank you so much for your message. I think I will definitely have the PCR test just to be on the safe side although it is a lot more expensive!

Not true. Antigen tests are still acceptable as per the English Government website 11/08/21
