Hi all,

Coming down with some friends from France, one who cannot have the vaxx. As you all know, we can't do anything here without the passport.

What are the rules? I've read this and am wondering where to find local updates on having a covid passport.

Thanks very much!

We've been for drinks and food in Puerto de Mazarron, Velez-Rubio, Caravaca de la Cruz, Mojacar and Garrucha in the past couple of weeks and never been challenged for a Covid passport. None of our friends have mentioned this either.

That is fantastic news - thanks so much!

There is no mandatory health pass in Spain. The idea has been rejected by most regional constitutional courts to prevent any form of discrimination. Even Galicia and Navarra which had required a health pass were told to give it up: to avoid discrimination and because vaccination, in general, is not mandatory in Spanish law. The latest one to reject it was Andalucia. However, if the number of positive cases in any place exceeds 1000 per 100K, local lockdowns including bars and restaurants closing will continue to apply. The situation is monitored for clusters at all times.

This is great news. So Spain is not pushing everyone to get a vaxx as they are doing in France? If my friend (who cannot have the vaxx due to a serious health issue) comes down, he cannot be shut out of the hotel or restaurants? He goes bi-weekly to get the test, otherwise here in France he can do nothing. Is there a special website for covid down there? I am fluent in Spanish so I can read the updates easily. I found a few websites but their information is from June. Does El Pais update the situation daily? Thanks so much!

Spain is pushing everyone to get vaccinated, however, in common with the UK, etc. it is not mandatory.
