Worrying tweet from Joan Bakewell. @JDBakewell

No deal Brexit means over 1 million expats will lose their reciprocal health care. Many ageing Brits will have to return home to use our NHS. Have the Brexiteers considered that??

More worrying is that nobody is denying it.

More worrying still is threat to NHS from US takeover after Brexit.

Are we now seeing the real picture?

Reaction is almost 100% concern.

Well the UK Gov website is telling lies about continuing S1 healthcare for Brits living in Spain then according to this tweet then!

I think its a case of the " typical English Bar Room Lawyer in Spain Syndrome " spreading the word directly opposite to the information on the UK Gov website.

No, sorry  I will not give the link, its easy to find.

I suppose the same expat bar room lawyers will be saying we will loose our UK Gov Pensions !

😊

They need to get a life and read the UK Gov website " living and retiring to Spain".

For those interested - there is nothing to worry about as long as you are legal and all your paperwork is up to date.

I think that's all correct under the terms of the withdrawal Agreement.

The comments were to do with a  no deal situation.,which I don't think the UK Gov website has addressed yet.

Hi Sean, yes you ca get daily reports from the uk gov website. I suscribed after the brexit vote 21/2 years ago, so you are talking about over 800 reports.

A no deal scenerio has been adequately reported by the government negotiating committee who do these daily updates

Needless to say expats rights have been adequately covered deal or no deal.

How do you know this? Are you privy to information that no-one else in Europe is willing to share? Until it is decided if and when we leave and how (deal or no deal) everything is assumption.

It is a mistake to assume that the Spanish healthcare system will support non working pensioners if we leave without a deal.

THIS WAS ON THE 1st MARCH

Spain's cabinet has approved measures for Britons in Spain to continue living there as now if the UK leaves the EU without a deal.

Foreign Minister Josep Borrell said the main purpose was that no-one, British or Spanish, would be left unprotected.

Spain estimates that the measures, which would become law under a no-deal Brexit, would grant residency rights to about 400,000 UK citizens.

UK MPs have so far rejected PM Theresa May's withdrawal deal with the EU.

That raises the prospect of the UK leaving without a deal on 29 March.

More than 300,000 Britons are currently registered as residing in Spain, the government in Madrid says. There are at least 150,000 Spaniards currently residing in the UK.

Hi Nick,

Thank you for your posting.

I was about to reply to sir Ricks posting as my post only advised people to go onto the UKGov website where it will show S1 entitlement deal or no deal.

As accused by sir Rick  "How do you know this? Are you privy to information that no-one else in Europe is willing to share? "

No,  I am not privy ! I have had daily email reports from the UKgov brexit negotiators from day 1, over 800 + emails.

My post said S1 information was available and there was no cause for concern.

Regards Al

This was to dispel speculators and those that are not privy to the information available from UK Gov.
