Hello Exu, you are quite right, it’s a bit of an issue getting UK home insurance that allows property to be unoccupied beyond 60 days. Some will allow this with special individual negotiation (with the ubiquitous significant price inflation), but we decided that was too much of an unknown variable and we just made sure that on renewal, we went with a company that allowed 90 days without occupation from the off. We use Home Protect, a 5* defacto insurance provider underwriten by AXA. From memory, other well known providers who offer different categories of home insurance such as silver, gold, platinum (Admiral, LV etc) tend to allow longer periods of ‘unoccupancy’ the further up the standard of cover you opt for (30, 60, 90). I will add that your reference to a 4 months stay may be problematic, not just from an unoccupied property point of view, but the 90 day rule in Schengen countries. Obviously, ignore last comment if you have residency. One final thought, the information above largely follows with regard to travel insurance. We use LV Platinum, which provides cover for trips of up to 90 days. Hope this helps.
