Hi group, recently moved from bahia area to playasol in the port, had first month electric bill in from landlord 242 euros, ibedrola won't answer my questions as not the owner, landlord seems dodgy, does this bill seem right? I'm taking into consideration that already the water had Been cut off within days of moving in non payment which we had to pay as landlord was skint,,,,,,,  found that odd as deposit was paid so where had that gone lol? Another query is half the electrics in house don't work so the bill is baffling, can anyone add to this saga?

242 euro sounds exorbitant unless of course you have a 6 bed villa with pool.  I suggest you check your contract with the landlord and the meter. Normally if you are not paying directly to ibdrola the electricity and water should be included in your rent

This is where the funny bit starts, half the lights don't work in the house it's a 3 beds no pool, no aircon has been on just 2 fans 6 to 7 hours a day, been bbqing most of the time so I'm dumbfounded as to what is going on

Sounds like you could be paying for somebody else's electric as well as your own.

No chance 242 euros is monthly bill! Had my for September, air con on, wash machine daily, fridge etc.,  all works including security lights- 66 euros. And this is a bit higher average as I was using power tools last month and had a lot of evenings in the garden with lights everywhere on.

And this is including silly energy company monthly charges of nearly 40 euros.
