hello I am french we are going to purchase a house in this village but I wonder wether where could we swimm in summer? I don't see any area.....how are the settlers ?friendly or cold we have been one year in the north in cantabria amazing but people not so kind.thanks for your advices and informations .

Don't consider buying a place somewhere you don't know very well. Always best to rent first. Buying in the wrong place is an expensive mistake - selling/moving costs are high
Thanks for this advice ;obviously,it's reckless to settle in unknown place but we are living in france . and we aren't moving it's just for holidays . this place seems very cheap so attractive but maybe boring ? Is there any public swimming pool or lake in Moratalla? thaks for your help

Ah I see. I was concerned you were moving permanently without knowing the area. I'm sorry I don't know anything about the area. I have a holiday home on the Mar Menor Golf Resort which is 10 mins from the Mar Menor sea at Los Alcazares or 20 mins from the med to many nicer beaches (by car).
You may find this interesting. Moratalla made international headlines a few years ago during la crisis when the town was declared bankrupt.
We live to the southeast of Moratalla and have only visited once so do not know much about the town except it is very pretty and the countryside around there is spectacular. It is higher than we are and gets snow most winters. There are some British up there, I don't know how many, it is essentially a very Spanish town.
Nearest beaches to us are Los Narejos at the northern end of Los Alcazares or Aguilas further south. Both are lovely places with good road networks from here. They would be the closest beaches from Moratalla too.
Cehegin has a municipal swimming pool, I have no idea of facilities in Moratalla. Sorry I cannot be more help, perhaps nobody from Moratalla reads this forum!

I would suggest you look at the book called “Going Native in the Mar Menor”. It has quite a good description of Moratalla and the surrounding areas as the authors have a house there. It is a very good guide to many towns and villages in the Murcia region. I bought it when we bought a holiday home near Sucina. You can download it from the Kindle shop or buy a hard copy from Amazon.co.uk. I’m afraid I don’t know if it is available in French. Bon chance 😊
