Hi. I'm aware a Carte de Invitación cannot be applied for if you are a Spanish property owner but non resident and from a third country (which the UK now obviously is).  What is the situation regarding entry paperwork if someone is coming to stay with you in Spain for a holiday or if that person wants to use your property (but not on a charged for rental basis) when you are not there with them? I am very aware of the travel restrictions re Amber status. Thank you.

Ignore it. I have a friend who travelled to Spain yesterday - no questions about this Carte  thing. It came from someone's post on facebook. it only applies to non-EU nationals from a country that is on the list as needing a visa - not the UK, and this was covered in the withdrawal agreement.

I am a non resident property owner. If I followed the information that was given I would have to carry the title deeds to my Apartment as proof that I had somewhere to stay. (And that is never going to happen). How would the border people know who owned a property or whether they were guests, they wouldn't...

Hope this helps

Thanks for the response, Stevie.  I just worry if someone like my daughter was travelling alone to visit me whilst i was in Spain (within my 90 days, of course 🤭) I would hate her to be turned away on arrival.

I am afraid if this was the issue and my family could not use my apartment when I wasnt there and having to complete forms etc, many people would more than likely sell up myself included.

It's complicated, confusing and awkward 😕

Wouldn't worry, only applies if someone is staying for 3 months, even then I wouldn't bother.

There is a posting on here about the Carta de Invitacion.  Type into the search box and click.

It is an extract from the Embassy and so completely reliable.  It lays to rest some of the postings based purely on rumour!

It gives a list about what is and is not needed.
