Hi, all.  I'm wondering what people do for travel insurance when their stay is for 3 months but their travel insurance maximum days per trip are 45 or so.  Thanks.

Hello Barbara, I speak from experience with this very issue! We had cover with a well known travel insurance provider, but also had 45 days limit in T&C’s. This had always been sufficient for a couple of week breaks etc. However, in February we decided we wanted to do a 90 day trip and got a quote from them to extend cover to the maximum visit time. The cost was exorbitant. I ended up cancelling, despite only being 5 months into the policy. Instead we took out an LV Premier travel policy. This is a bells and whistles policy, 5* defacto rating etc. Most importantly, it covers me and my family for multiple visits up to 90 days maximum. Obviously, given current Schengen restrictions, that amounts to 2 x 90 visits each year (max 90/180 days). The total cost for 3 on the policy is £255. The cost to extend our original policy to cover us for up to 90 days was over double the price!

The policy must be LV’s Premier policy and not the standard.

Hope this helps.

Paul, thanks so very much for this.  It's very, very useful information and I will contact LV.  Why is it so difficult when you're trying to do the right thing?! 😂

Thanks for this, Bob.  It's a bit of a nightmare to sort out!
