Hi all,

I have recently bought an apartment in P.D. Maz and am coming out on Tuesday 12th for four days. The cost of hiring a car at the new airport appears to be almost three times what it was from San Javier for whatever bizarre reason. Is there anyone organising pick ups from the airport or is anyone interested in doing that very thing?

I could get a bus to Cartagena and then to PD Maz but that would take some little time I guess.

Many thanks for any help here.

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

I posted a similar question last month and was advised to catch a bus from Corvera airport to Murcia bus stn, then there are buses which go to Mazarrón & the port. Someone also posted a link for bus services so do take a look at the buses, trains & public transport section on this forum site.

Apparently, if you look on Murcia Today, a bus route is planned to run from the new airport to Pto. de Mazarrón but won’t be in situ until Easter. It’s so frustrating isn’t it!

Best of luck - do let me know how you get on, as I too will be taking a bus route later in the year.

Hi Burnie,

Many thanks for your thoughts....yes I was going to look at the bus situation as going via either Murcia or Cartagena would work (just rather time consuming)....normally I would use the Holiday Taxi shuttle service but they also apparently don't operate there over the Winter. So the only other alternatives are regular taxi or hire a car. Last trip (December) I hired a car from Centauro for euros 35 for five days....now they are quoting euros 75...how does that work?

I have had a few replies from others who are happy to do both ways for euros 80 but that is still pretty expensive for just one person.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Cheers...Jeremy

I’ve hired a car in mid Feb for 5 days with BlueValley and it’s costing £31. We seem to have found it cheaper to book early as when we’ve looked again the prices have increased 2 fold at least. It also took a while for hire companies to appear at Corvera, but hopefully as the airport becomes more established, things like car hire & bus services will look up.

€80 for a round trip appears to be good value at the moment (even though still quite expensive for one person) when compared to taxi companies I’ve seen online. I wish a bus service could be sorted soon!
