Corvera (Region de Murcia) is the closest, but flights have been very limited due to the pandemic; and even in 'normal' times, the volume and range of flights differs greatly depending on which area of the UK you will be travelling to & from.
When there is demand, I would expect their to be bus services. If not, then booking an airport transfer in advance is usally much cheaper than a taxi...
Hope this helps!

Can anyone advise if they know of a firm or local taxi company that will quote for a regular run from Maxarr and to Alicante airport?

I would like to recommend Rufino. He’s a fully licensed cab driver based in the port and is very reliable. He also speaks English having lived in the UK for several years.
He recently took me to Murcia airport for €50 door to door.

Hi there,
Sadly, there isn't a shuttle directly to PdM. But there is an hourly bus service to Murcia. And you can connect from there. But you have to be sure it all connects. The Murcia service doesn't run hourly. Last bus to PdM is 20:30. I did PdM to Alicante on Friday morning. I took the 7:30am bus and was in the airport at 09:50. Cost about 12 euros for the two tickets. Cab prices will vary on who you use but you likely won't get one for less than 100. And will likely be an illegal airport run.
Re Christmas: I was there last week and it seems that there are still tons of offerings for Christmas and New Year, that will suit any budget. Although some of the fancier places have become quite pricey, I thought.
Re transport: the Cartagena and Murcia bus services are cheap and reliable but you have to plan. Nearest trains are there. Cartagena is on the slow line. Murcia is better connected and does go to Alicante, high speed to Madrid.
Ask away if you need any more info.
Ross.
