How is it that Train/Bus passengers are issued with Mascarillas free but if you are a humble pedestrian you have to pay 2.50 euro to obtain one from the Farmacia?

The Government insists that when you cannot maintain the 2 metre distance you should wear one....is being on a train any different to being in a supermarket riskwise?

Looking at images from El Pais today it looks like they are handing out single use disposable masks, if that is correct they should be used following WHO guidelines, disposed of, carefully, either after one use or as soon as they become moist. That is going to be one hell of a lot of masks and a lot of potential bio-hazard waste.

I would think Spain is the leader in owners not cleaning up their dog's poo!!

I would think that 2.50 is a small price to pay.

Compared to free it isn't small!

Compared to spreading or getting the virus it is a very small price.

I think you are going off track..I never questioned that they were not worth having compared to not having. My point isthey are as esseniall to people carrying out necessary tasks as they are to commuters. One group has to pay, the other doesn't.

Hi Terry. if you look at my post a few days ago under face masks you will see  I was praising the local ambulance service for actually stopping people in the streets and outside supermarkets and farmacias and giving out free masks.

Maybe the case of being in the right palce at the right time.

It's easy enough to make your own face masks. You only need 2 pieces of 25 x 15 cm washable cloth and 2 pieces of elastic or cord. There are dozens of YouTube videos on how to make them and they can be used and washed and used again. It'll also give you something to do to pass the time whilst being in lock-down!
