Can someone help me to understand this, please.

I've just checked car hire on Do You Spain for later this month and for the whole period of 16 days a smallish car is less than 5 euros. It definitely says for 16 days hire. That can't be right can it?

Am I missing something? Is it just badly worded and it actually means 5 euros per day?

Some mouth organ on here said they had booked at 8beuro for the week.

I would book it if I was you.

But check the small print and t & c very very carefully.

Hi Gaby, Yes I've seen this too.  But don't  forget the insurance to be added, which may be in the region of 100 euros or thereabouts.  As Roland said check the small print a couple of times to double check.

Thanks for replying everyone.

We've got the annual insurance so we don't have to buy any more insurance.

I have read and reread the terms and as far as I can work out it really is that cheap, but how can they do it for that price and not make a loss?

When you pick the car up you will be charged around €80 for fuel ..they will also charge you for cleaning the car when you return it.

I think charging for the fuel is fair enough and we've never had to pay for cleaning. I can only imagine they gamble on making money on extras like that and on people using their insurance.

check who the actual company is as DoYou Spain is just a broker, then google the reviews of that company. Even if you have your own insurance you may be pressured into taking theirs and if not up to 1400€ may be blocked from your credit card making it easy to withhold a large amount for  supposed damage when you return the car...take a video of the entire car when you pick it up.

Hi, last February my husband and I hired a car through the same people for 1.87€ For 6 days! No catches at all, but we certainly kept thinking there’d been a mistake.

Use common sense. How can they make a profit ? Avoid GoldCar and Eurocar and good luck.

Sounds bonkers but it's actually true.  Our daughter rented the car many times for fiver per week out of season,  once she's splashed even £6 for the upgrade! The catch is that you will be asked to buy a ,,full" insurance while some insurance is coming with the deal anyway and when you refuse,  approx £1200 will be booked on your Credit card what is  the normal practice regardless the hire price as is petrol policy returning full tank or paying for full tank depending on hire company.
