We intend spending time in the area in the Winter months. What would be the advice on the most economical form of heating?

If gas heaters (bottled gas) are used do they give off fumes?

Any advice appreciated.

Yes, and lots of damp too. Air con is the most efficient (with modern inverters) or oil-filled radiators.....cheapest is put on a couple more layers or keep movong!

Thank you for that. I thought gas heaters might not be the best idea.

We will have to consider installing air conditioning as I guess we will need it for the Summer as well.

wood burners are very popular.  Have you got a fireplace?     Electricity is very expensive unless you have a solar power./ battery setup.  Gas fires that vent through a balanced flue are a popular choice, or central heating is worth considering.

Thank you for replying. We've only got a small apartment so no fireplace. We'll test out the temperatures in January and if lots of jumpers don't do the trick we'll get an oil filled radiator.

We have a wood burning fire and low cost and nice and it does keep the air dryer, gas heaters are also wet heaters, air conditioners give hot air and cold air but cost, pellet burns good low cost to run,but need small hole for the outlet .Is there an answer now that’s a good.

Air con only warms the air, also buy a big carpet that helps.

Good luck.

Wood burner sounds lovely but not possible for us. We don't really know how cold it's going to be in January, I should imagine that's probably going to be the coldest month so we'll see how we get on!  Thank you for the advice.

Average 17 by day and 6 at night, but can drop at lot lower in wet spells.  Does your flat face south? nice thick rug and underlay for the winter so you can roll it up in the summer,  Oil filled radiators can be obtained in the charity shops if you are lucky and hooked up to timer switches.  Good thick winter Fleece is useful as is  a woolly hat.  If it is a very small flat putting the oven on is useful but be aware there are two rates for electricity, cheap rate - around midnight to 11am ,( you will need to check.). full rate is expensive..

However it warms up quite fast in the spring.

Be very careful which timers you buy - we have had a Chinese shop one burn out, which could have caused a house fire. Buy from a proper electrical shop (e.g. Electronicas Rayke in Cartagena) and check that the power rating is enough for your heater. Avoid any electrical goods marked made in P R C.
