First of all hello to everyone and thanks for letting me join you on here.  Hope you are all well at this awful time fo lockdowns.

About 3 years ago my parthner and I spent the winter parked at Bolnuevo, and loved it.

Great memories including The Wok Chinese sea food restuarant, my favourite food!

I have just seen some photo's of the new, soon to open, Area Camper park for motorhomes at Puerto De Mazzaron which I think from memory, looks to be near the  boat museum.  I am unable to find out any more informatio about it.  Is it a municipal site and was it funded by local goverment or private company.

Can anyone provide with more information or even some links to the new site so I can do some more research?

It looks to be open and is brand new.

I was in the port a couple of weeks ago but not down at that end.

Have a look at this link there are some more photos.

Looks a beautiful facility full marks to Puerto Mazarron for setting it up.

Roland this is great.  I will now try to wade through to find who owns this, is it municipal or private?  Wfere did they get the funding?

I am trying to persuade my local council here in the North East of England, Northumberland, to build something like this, (I can dream).  They have asked me to find out as much as possible.  When people visit the UK we have nothing for them like the facilities in Europe, what we have is also more expensive, we have to change.

Thanks,

Eddie

I ran a business in a well know tourist area in the UK for 32 years.

I also travelled quite a bit in France / Spain & Portugal first in a car then in a motorhome.

The UK tourist facilities in the UK for motorhomes are pretty poor & those that are there are expensive.

In Europe virtually every small town has facilities ( some pretty basic ) for motorhomes.

They have the right idea.........

Park outside our town for free & then come into our town & spend money on food fuel & all sorts of things.

It's not rocket science is it !!

It always amazes me that all the pubs with big ( empty !! ) car parks have not thought to jump on the motorhome bandwagon.

Provide a fresh water tap & a drop off facility & you would have customers in your empty pub.

When the word got round & a few free internet websites listed the facilities you could have a nice little earner for very little outlay.

So true, we used to love touring and always headed for Spain through France and came across many free stays on the outskirts of towns/villages, on some uk trips we found 2 pubs that catered for tourers and they were both in the camping and caravaning members book = maximum 5 tourers on site at one time, brilliant times, although the wife preferred her home comforts, but I loved it. To old now, great memories.

Here in the UK we find it embarrassing not to have at least the same facilities for motorhomes as Europe.  In June we started a campaign group on Facebook, “Campaign For Real Aires” and now have nearly 14,000 members. Also CAMpRA.org.uk.  We have much to change, including people’s ideas of motorhomes, campsite owners who do not want the market to change and municipal and government thinking.  We are also bound by an outdated law made 60 years ago in 1960, which controls campsites which we need to change.

We are gathering as much information as possible to help our cause, such as how much is motorhome tourism worth to the EU, any facts or figures or newspaper articles relating to motorhomes would help.

We are making inroads and even comments like Rolands and yours are very helpful.

Stay safe,

Eddie

It was published not long time ago that Murcia region making a few new camper sites and motor homes and caravans won't be permitted to park everywhere as they're doing now and have to use camper sites only. ( Good luck to implement that..)

So this new establishment must be the part of this plan assuming funded by the Government.
