Hi we have been searching for a mobile home site for a few years to no avail.

We have recently hit upon puerto de Mazarron and wow it looks beautiful.

Our intention is to buy a mobile home for holidays and in 5yrs retire there.

We are coming to puerto in August and would like to see some sites but are being told you can only live on sites that are residential.

We are aware there are some rules about this (leaving the site after so many days) which is fine as we would be regularly coming to England to visit our children.

We are not sure we would be able to get residencia???

Any help would be appreciated as it seems an uphill battle.

Hi and welcome. Yes the whole bay of Mazarron is lovely, but I have no experience of what you are looking for. I'd take one thing at a time, contact the camp sites around the Port and ask what their regulations are, things like residencia can come later once you have found your ideal place. I do know in England you usually buy for a set period of year's so be careful there, but it might be different in Spain. Good luck

Try sites in isla plana which is not too far from puerto de Mazarron and also mazarron itself

Think about buying a house in camposol - the 2 bed terraces are very cheap at the moment and you will be able to live in it all the year round, install central heating/air conditioning and probably get your money back when you sell it?

We have had a look at this urbanisation. I may dig a little deeper and see what’s about .

I know of a couple who have lived in a static caravan for longer than I have lived here (15 years) permanently I don't know whether it's different for mobile homes, there is also a nice site in Los Alcazares.

Search online for Camping San Javier preloved. Just what you're looking for.

If you look at a mobile home there are a few things to consider.  Buying is usually straight forward.  You agree to pay for the home and a monthly/yearly payment for the ground rent.  If you buy one of the more expensive homes you will probably get a nice pitch thrown in.

The fun starts after about five years when your caravan is no longer state of art and the site owner is bringing nice shiny new ones in to sell.  You may find that you have to move your home to another pitch.  Some sites will require that you use site tradesmen to do any running repairs or air conditioning installations, etc.

When you come to sell you will probably have to sell through his website and may face a charge of anything up to 15% for doing so, unless you buy another new one, and after a certain time the owner might ask you to remove your home completely.  Some sites also require you to pay if you rent out your home and you have to inform the office accordingly.

However, on the bright side you will often have access to a clubhouse, pool and eating facilities.  You pays your money and you takes your choice  ….
