Hi, my husband will be making our way out to Puerto de Mazarròn in a week’s time - hopefully to find a holiday getaway.

We know the Alcolar, Alamillo & Isla Plana areas very well but have noticed the prices on houses in Bahía, particularly Via Axial, are far cheaper. Can anyone clarify why? Does Bahía suffer from significantly more flooding; is it less safe than other areas year round?  Any thoughts or information would be much appreciated.

Hello. We have had an appartment in Bahia for three years, no issues, friendly people. Outside of summer it is quieter where as the town has more permanent residents. We are here now it's reasonably quiet but safe.

There is the dos playas hotel near us and fantastic beaches on the doorstep and a twenty minute walk into the port, which we prefer, go in and come away.

Each to thier own but not had any issues either when full in summer or when it is quiet in autumn and winter.

The other thing is where we are particularly through long summers we are imeresed in a spanish culture and warm people.

I am sure other areas are equally the same and if you have a large budget lots to choose from and in different areas of the port.

for our budget and being close to the beaches Bahia is great.

I’m so happy to read that! I have loved walking through the area but have only done so during summer months. We want to absorb Spanish culture when we visit (for me approx 5 x per year) and this sounds just what we’re after! Thank you Bahia1!

No problem. Good luck with your search. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Hello, it was nice to read your comments on the area of Bahia in Puerto Mazarron. We rented for three months last winter in El Alcolar and loved travelling around the different areas and particularly liked Bahia. After looking on different holiday rental websites there is a very short supply of holiday rentals in the areas of Bahia, particularly for a long winter let. Do you know of any letting agencies for this area, or of any owners wanting to let their property in the winter months? we would love to hear from you if you do. Best wishes Sandra and Stan Olsen.

Hi Stan.

We live in Luz Bahia which is a complex it's situated near the medical centre and the Sunday market.

Some of the residents here rent out their properties all year round. Spanish and English. It's very quiet during the winter months and gets very busy during the summer.

If you search Luz Bahia in the port you may find something if not I can ask around see if there is anyone letting out for winter months.

Hope you find somewhere.

Di

I was advised against Via Axial due to flooding - is it very bad there.  Any advice gratefully received
