Did you change to a French driving licence ?
If so, I suggest that you check to make sure you retained your qualification to drive 7.5 tonnes.
I switched to a Spanish licence last year and lost the 7.5 tonne qualification.

You'll need an IDP for France and Spain now. Plenty of vehicle hire operations in Murcia and Cartagena. They will be cautious about 7,5 tonne GVW trucks to a Brit but you'll find a lwb van at 3,5 tonnes GVW has a lot of space as well.Good luck.

Hi, IDP is International Driving Permit. Now needed because the UK is no longer in the EU....you can get it at the Post Office in the UK and also on-line. Rental companies are now insisting on it for UK Licence Holders.
Wow if it took six swb low roof Transits then a 7,5 tonne GVW box is not going to do it either! Good Luck!

For Travel in the EU existing arrangements will continue unchanged for the duration of the transition period - until 31 December 2020. This means that UK driving licences will continue to be recognised in the EU without the need for an IDP. Arrangements for January 2021 onwards will be subject to the EU-UK future relationship negotiations.
Evening, I rented a car last month no issues without IDP.
As for a large van, I have rented twice using enterprise in Murcia city. Reasonable prices and had no problems with either hire. They have XL Van's which have a great capacity.
