Hi guys have any of you got any experience of letting your property on a long let? If so, please could you share your experience with me? good or bad. I am very confused and don't know if I should or shouldn't be taking this risk if any? Please help. Thanks

Don't do it. We had a single guy in ours, supposed to been for six months.

Left after 4 leaving quite a bit of damage, would never do it again.

Holiday rental is good as they go home and respect your apartment more.

Short or long term get landlord insurance and make sure you are registered fine can be up to 90.000 euro and it's quite easy to get registered.

Thanks you very much. I was reading about the landlord insurance but it only cover you for the legal fee to some extent and the damage done by the tenants and whilst this process is going ahead, the tenants can not be evicted. is that the case? Thanks

I am going on Monday to La Torre where my apartment is and the agent is very keen to show some potential tenants for a very long term letting hence very anxious.

From a personal point of view I would only do medium term, say 6 months renewable and try to get 6 month rental up front, I realize that's pushing it, good luck

Hi morning all,we rent in Sucina and the landlord does a viewing every 3 months that’s fine with us,also we have rented out property in the UK and Spain in the past so yes I can see your problem in renting out BUT there are good and bad so please don’t tar all with the same bush like all walks of life good and bad.

Some may say Y do we rent and not buy age for one thing, and we have owned lots of property in UK and Spain. Now we are as they say (family bankers).

we rented for 8 months and had a large dog.  we treated the rental house like it was our home.  our dog was not allowed upstairs or on furniture.  The landlord sold it at the end of our tenancy and Estate Agent commented that it had helped her sell it as closed up it may have got dusty or damp.

I have heard horror stories from people who rent but friends we have made here who rent have always looked after their rental property.
