Seen a property we like in Roldan but unsure what the area is like. Is it a nice area?

Mostly flat.
Plenty of good eating/drinking spots (Covid permitting).
Sizeable Brit community.
Not a very pretty place.

Depends how you define "affordable nearby".
La Torre golf resort is nearby. Lots of holiday homes in there.
In the pre-Covid world, a few of the Roldan restaurants picked up/dropped off at La Torre.
Other than that, there are a few small villages nearby ... brown, flat, dusty farming terrain.
There are a couple of other golf resorts nearby. I don't know where they stand legally, but they are incomplete/the golf course has not been maintained - so be careful.
A couple of our favourite restaurants are in Roldan.
